2010 CROP Hunger Walk Route Announced

The walk route for the 2010 CROP Hunger Walk has been announced.

The walk Begins at East Side Christian Church, corner of Weinbach and Bayard Park Drive.

Walkers will travel east on Bayard Park Drive to Alvord Blvd and then left on Alvord Blvd. The north on Alvord Blvd to Mulberry Street and left on Mulberry Street.

Mulberry Street west to Frederick Street and then right, crossing Lincoln Avenue and on to the campus of the University of Evansville, crossing the campus and takes half-point break at Neu Chapel.

Mid Walk Break – Neu Chapel

Walk leaves Neu Chapel and goes south on Rotherwood Avenue across Lincoln Avenue to South East Blvd and turns left on South East Blvd.

Takes South East Blvd. to Blackford Avenue going east to Alvord Blvd.

Left on Alvord Blvd to Bayard Park Drive. Left on Bayard Park Drive back to East Side Christian Church.

The annual Evansville CROP Walk supports the work of Church World Service nationwide and internationally, as well as the Tristate Food Bank and the Evansville Food Pantry system.

Church World Service, a cooperative ministry of 36 denominations throughout the world, receives 75 percent of the proceeds from the walk. Working with partners in the United States and around the world, Church World Service builds interfaith and intercultural coalitions to eradicate hunger and poverty and promote peace and justice. Its ministries range from disaster response in the United States and other parts of the world to long-term sustainable grassroots development in more than 80 countries, including our own.

The Tri-State Food Bank and the Emergency Food Pantry System of Evansville divied equally the remainder of the proceeds. The Food Bank serves food pantries, soup kitchens and other programs feeding the hungry in 33 Tri-State counties. The Food Pantry System will serve more than 17,000 four-day supplies of food to local families this year.
