Evansville CROP Walk establishes new email newsletter

Today the Evansville Hunger Task Force established a new email newsletter for the Evansville CROP Walk. The mailing list will be used to send out critical updates leading up to the local CROP Walk on Saturday, November 5, and for follow-up reports on the success of the Walk.

CROP Walkers and other supporters are encouraged to sign up for the E-Walk to receive periodic updates of the latest news regarding this year's CROP Walk.

The annual Evansville CROP Walk supports the work of Church World Service nationwide and internationally, as well as the Tristate Food Bank and the Evansville Food Pantry system.

Church World Service, a cooperative ministry of 36 denominations throughout the world, receives 75 percent of the proceeds from the walk. Working with partners in the United States and around the world, Church World Service builds interfaith and intercultural coalitions to eradicate hunger and poverty and promote peace and justice. Its ministries range from disaster response in the United States and other parts of the world to long-term sustainable grassroots development in more than 80 countries, including our own.

The Tri-State Food Bank and the Emergency Food Pantry System of Evansville divied equally the remainder of the proceeds. The Food Bank serves food pantries, soup kitchens and other programs feeding the hungry in 33 Tri-State counties. The Food Pantry System will serve more than 17,000 four-day supplies of food to local families this year.
