We had 77 walkers from 17 groups and so far have raised $5,182.25.

Mayor Jonathan Weinzapfel has declared "CROP Hunger Walk Day"
Mayor Jonathan Weinzapfel has declared Saturday, November 6th as "CROP Hunger Walk Day".

The 38th annual CROP (Communities Responding to Overcome Poverty) Walk will take place Saturday, November 6, 2010
Location: East Side Christian Church
Time: Registration is from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m.
Walk Begins at 10 a.m.
CROP, or Communities Responding to Overcome Poverty, is the oldest event of its type in the Evansville area, and the Evansville CROP Walk is the longest running CROP walk in the state of Indiana.
Monies raised for the CROP Walk are divided between Church World Service, the Tristate Food Bank, and the Evansville Food Pantry Consortium.

River City Clowns at CROP Walk for Hunger
Come early (9 AM!) to enjoy the River City Clowns on Saturday, November 6, at Eastside Christian Church, at the corner of Weinbach Avenue and Bayard Park Drive. The clowns will be face-painting and creating balloon sculptures from 9-10 AM, during registration at the 38th Annual CROP Walk for Hunger.River City Clowns is a chapter of Smiles Unlimited Universal Clown Ministry, an inter-denominational clown ministry committed to the excellence in clowning at healthcare facilities and hospitals or wherever the healing power of humor can best serve those in need.
The 38th Annual CROP Hunger Walk will be held this year on Saturday, November 6, 9:00 AM, beginning and ending at East Side Christian Church, at the corner of Weinbach Avenue and Bayard Park Drive (map).

Jeff Lyons to join 2010 CROP Walk for Hunger
The annual CROP Walk for Hunger will have a special guest this year!Jeff Lyons of 14 WFIE News will be joining the CROP Walk as its Grand Marshall. Much more than a figurehead for the Walk, Jeff has attended recent meetings of the Evansville Area Hunger Task Force, the sponsoring organization for the fundraiser.
"He was at our last meeting for over an hour, and gave us some really great suggestions for promotion and advertising. His presence was really felt, and he fully joined in the conversation," said Task Force convener Al Spilman.
Jeff Lyons joined the 14 News team in 1988. The Indiana University graduate currently anchors the weathercasts for 14 News at 5, 6 and 10. He earned his National Weather Association seal of approval in 1991 and the American Meteorological Society seal of approval and certification as a meteorologist in 1993. The proud father of three appears at over 40 schools a year and speaks to civic groups about weather casting.

38th Annual CROP Hunger Walk
The 38th Annual CROP Hunger Walk will be held this year on Saturday, November 6.
CROP, or Communities Responding to Overcome Poverty, is the oldest event of its type in the Evansville area, and the Evansville CROP Walk is the longest running CROP walk in the state of Indiana.
Your help is needed. In the past, members of your church have raised funds and walked to help eradicate hunger and poverty locally and globally. As you know, the need is great again this year.
Monies raised for the CROP Walk are divided between three agencies, both national and international in scope as well as local.
Church World Service, a cooperative ministry of 36 denominations throughout the world, receives 75 percent of the proceeds from the walk. Working with partners in the United States and around the world, Church World Service builds interfaith and intercultural coalitions to eradicate hunger and poverty and promote peace and justice. Its ministries range from disaster response in the United States and other parts of the world to long-term sustainable grassroots development in more than 80 countries, including our own.
The Tri-State Food Bank and the Emergency Food Pantry System of Evansville divied equally the remainder of the proceeds. The Food Bank serves food pantries, soup kitchens and other programs feeding the hungry in 33 Tri-State counties. The Food Pantry System will serve more than 17,000 four-day supplies of food to local families this year.
The beginning point of this year’s walk is East Side Christian Church, 2001 Bayard Park Drive (at the corner of Weinbach Avenue and Bayard Park Drive.) Registration for the walk is at 9 a.m. The walk will begin at 10 a.m.
On September 20 we will have two identical training sessions. One will be at 9 a.m. and the second at 7 p.m. Both will be held at East Side Christian Church.

2010 CROP Hunger Walk Route Announced
The walk route for the 2010 CROP Hunger Walk has been announced.
The walk Begins at East Side Christian Church, corner of Weinbach and Bayard Park Drive.
Walkers will travel east on Bayard Park Drive to Alvord Blvd and then left on Alvord Blvd. The north on Alvord Blvd to Mulberry Street and left on Mulberry Street.
Mulberry Street west to Frederick Street and then right, crossing Lincoln Avenue and on to the campus of the University of Evansville, crossing the campus and takes half-point break at Neu Chapel.
Mid Walk Break – Neu Chapel
Walk leaves Neu Chapel and goes south on Rotherwood Avenue across Lincoln Avenue to South East Blvd and turns left on South East Blvd.
Takes South East Blvd. to Blackford Avenue going east to Alvord Blvd.
Left on Alvord Blvd to Bayard Park Drive. Left on Bayard Park Drive back to East Side Christian Church.
